SK #LONG Vagrant! (Large)

Description

The British Ornithologists Union has determined that there are 598 species of birds in England, Scotland, Wales and The Isle Of Man using the criteria that the species' existence has been recorded in a natural state at least once since January 1800. The list also includes species that have been introduced by man and maintained themselves without further aid. Added to that list is the occasional feathered tourist from North America, termed "vagrant", who comes ashore via weather systems, or occasionally as a stowaway on cargo or passenger ships. One such vagrant is the North American Yellow Warbler, as depicted by British felt artist Sue Forey amid the brilliant hues of autumn leaves. Peeking out through soft folds of quilted midnight, the tableaux is completed with a heel-like sparkle by jewelry artist Ronda Terry's button of carved stone a pierced metalwork bound in semi-precious stones.
