Nectar Of The Gods Blazer Front

The Legend

NECTAR OF THE GODS, BLAZER

Nectar of the gods, fruit of the vine, bubbly and vino — just a few of the terms used to describe wine, the juice of fermented fruit, most commonly grapes. Wine has been produced in most cultures across the world for thousands of years, with most ancient discovery being traced to northern China 9,000 years ago. Indian Textile Designer Suneetha/Bhaavana presents a brilliant fresco of wine from start to finish, using multiple techniques of fabric sculpture, appliqué, beadwork, felting and fabric origami on silk to depict grapes on the vine, and a carafe ready to pour. Jewelry artist Ronda Terry’s kilnfired dichroic glass button adds the perfect sparkling touch.

Susan Hollingsworth

Susan Hollingsworth has always had a knack for storytelling. Her years spent living in countries from Europe to Asia introduced her to the ancient practice of fiber art and the techniques that women used to create visual stories – with thread and fabric – passed down to them from their ancestors. During a stint in London, she studied pattern making from the Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, which became the catalyst for SuKaz jackets. Rather than pen and paper, Susan designs wearable pieces of art, each one telling a unique story through the hands of skilled artisans from cultures around the globe.

Ronda Terry

Multi- talented jewelry artist Ronda Terry works magic in her Michigan studio, conjuring delicacy and beauty from bits of rough metal, raw gemstones, and broken glass. Each of her exquisite creations is forged using caustic chemicals, 1500 degree heat, and a master’s hand. Ronda fashions a range of jewelry, dichroic glass tile, and buttons using techniques of kiln firing, enameling, casting and etching. And each brings its own brand of magic to a Sukaz jacket.
