The Legend

GEISHA

A geisha pauses as she passes through the doorway to the ochaya, or Japanese teahouse. Indian Textile Designer Suneetha/Bhaavana brings the thoughtful moment to life in this portrait in appliqué, origami, embroidery and beading. The brilliant colors in her needle-tatted button complete the picture.

All Fortitude And Grace . . .

Susan Hollingsworth

Susan Hollingsworth has always had a knack for storytelling. Her years spent living in countries from Europe to Asia introduced her to the ancient practice of fiber art and the techniques that women used to create visual stories – with thread and fabric – passed down to them from their ancestors. During a stint in London, she studied pattern making from the Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, which became the catalyst for SuKaz jackets. Rather than pen and paper, Susan designs wearable pieces of art, each one telling a unique story through the hands of skilled artisans from cultures around the globe.
