A Visual Feast jacket fullbody

The Legend

A VISUAL FEAST

The lustrous beauty of Ikat cloth is achieved by binding the silk threads before dyeing them, then weaving the resulting threads to achieve desired patterns in the cloth. The result is luminous and exquisite, but the beauty goes even deeper. For with the bend of an elbow, or turn of the wrist, the artistry of textile designer Suneetha/Bhaavana is revealed. Combining techniques of silk origami, embroidery, and beadwork, she has created a delicate palette of flowers and butterflies. A handcrafted button completes the color-drenched effect.

Susan Hollingsworth

Susan Hollingsworth has always had a knack for storytelling. Her years spent living in countries from Europe to Asia introduced her to the ancient practice of fiber art and the techniques that women used to create visual stories – with thread and fabric – passed down to them from their ancestors. During a stint in London, she studied pattern making from the Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, which became the catalyst for SuKaz jackets. Rather than pen and paper, Susan designs wearable pieces of art, each one telling a unique story through the hands of skilled artisans from cultures around the globe.
